Description We are offering a contract employment opportunity for a Mailroom Assistant in Washington, District of Columbia, United States. The main function of this role is to oversee the receiving and distribution of mail and packages within a corporate setting. The ideal candidate should be well-versed in managing, recording, and logging incoming packages, as well as distributing them to the appropriate recipients within the building.Responsibilities Receiving and recording incoming packages, mail, and newspapers/magazines Distributing incoming items to the appropriate delivery points within the building, such as reception desks or suite doors Conducting scheduled mail sweeps throughout the building Picking up, recording, and staging outgoing mail and packages for various carriers, including US Mail, FedEx, UPS, DHL, and local messengers Handling packages that may weigh up to 50 lbs, with the use of hand-trucks/dollies when necessary Not responsible for applying postage or generating carrier waybills, but must record pertinent information and ensure that items reach the appropriate recipients Distributing incoming mail in a timely and efficient manner Filing and maintaining an organized record of all mail and packages received and distributed. Requirements Minimum of 2 years of experience in a mailroom or similar role. Ability to distribute incoming mail in a timely and efficient manner. Proficiency in filing documents and maintaining an organized filing system. Excellent communication skills for interacting with colleagues and other stakeholders. Basic computer skills for tracking and logging received mail. High attention to detail to ensure correct distribution of mail. Ability to work independently and to prioritize tasks. Physical stamina to handle heavy mail packages when necessary. High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification. Knowledge of mailroom operations and equipment is preferred. Familiarity with mail processing procedures and postage meter machines. Strong organizational skills for managing a high volume of mail. Problem-solving skills to address issues related to mail distribution. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Punctuality and reliability in daily attendance. Willingness to adhere to all company policies and procedures.
