The Associate Director of Communications, Social Media will lead the social media program at Georgetown Law. This position encompasses setting strategies, creating content, and measuring content effectiveness to align with the law school's strategic goals. The Director will be responsible for Georgetown Law's presence on all social platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn, and identify new social tools and trends for the law school to capitalize on. The Director will also offer guidance to social media contributors throughout the law center campus. This position oversees Georgetown Law's presence on all social platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn, while identifying new social tools and trends for the law school to explore in the future. Reporting to the Executive Director of Communications, the Director's duties include but are not limited to: ​​

Manage social media platforms for the Law Center, with regular posts on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and other platforms.

Develop a social media calendar for event-specific content and working closely with Communications Team colleagues to align social media objectives with Georgetown Law’s strategic initiatives and messaging goals.

Collaborate with other Law Center offices and faculty members to share best practices for social networks.

Facilitate a cross-campus working group on social media activities, leading group and individual social media training with Law Center staff and faculty.

Create social media specific graphics for Georgetown Law’s accounts, and occasionally for departments across campus, consulting the Design team as needed.

Assist the Communications team on photo and video shoots, contributing to organizational systems for campus photography and overseeing the archiving of assets.

Work Interactions

The Associate Director works closely with all members of the Communications team, collaborating with the design team on social media graphics, with the Director of Video on social media video projects, with the Director of the Media Relations on cross-promotion of various press releases and announcements, and with the Executive Director on social media strategies to drive the Law Center's messaging to new audiences through social media.

Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

At least 3 years - preferably 5 years - in public relations or other related field

Expertise on multiple social media platforms, basic video editing skills, and DSL camera use

Excellent writing and verbal communication skills

Ability to work collaboratively, and to multi-task and prioritize projects

Experience with media database and tracking tools, including Cision, preferred

Excellent judgment and diplomacy, particularly in representing senior members of the staff and faculty with the media and on social platforms

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$47,586.00 - $87,558.13Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
