Span.IO, Inc. seeks Senior Certification Engineer(s) in San Francisco, California.

Responsibilities: Responsible for taking Span’s next-generation product suite through certification. More specific duties include: leading products through the full certification processes, including running tests and test plans, identifying risk areas and recommending solutions, representing Span at test facilities, and advising in design decisions; designing and advising on key standards and requirements related to electrical, electronics, mechanical products, and the like (e.g. UL 67, UL 916, UL 1741 SA), including determining and interpreting relevant regulatory standards and how they apply to Span products to establish and maintain guidelines and best design practices to mitigate compliance issues early in the design phase; owning and managing compliance testing and working relationships with NRTLs; collaborating with cross-functional teams on certification strategies, including product designs, specifications and codes, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget; planning and executing pre-compliance testing, including hands-on building of test set up (soldering, wiring, harnesses, basic fabrication, etc.); and other duties as assigned. Employee may be stationed anywhere in the United States, but will report to headquarters in San Francisco, California. Salary range $128k-$150k.

Education: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field (or foreign equivalent).

Requirements: Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related positions. Other special requirements: Two (2) years of hands-on experience running compliance test and working with NRTLs; two (2) years of experience taking a high voltage/power electrical product through the complete certification process; two (2) years of experience working with lab electrical equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, power analyzer, hipot testers, and the like); and two (2) years of experience with core hardware certification concepts (e.g. creepage and clearance, temperature testing).
