Nautilus Biotechnology, Inc. in San Carlos, CA seeks a Mechanical Engineer 3.

Responsibilities: Responsible for early-stage research and proof-of-concept work for technical feasibility of new designs and architectures development of a single molecule proteomics instrument. Specific duties include: defining product requirements and translating requirements into subsystem specifications, including performing mechanical and thermal analysis of subsystem/system designs of tolerance analysis and modal analysis and designing various electro-mechanical subsystems in different areas including but not limited to precision engineering, mechatronics, thermal management, and vibration mitigation; working closely with industrial designers and other stakeholders on defining the look and feel of the instrument and creating clarity of creative and sound engineering solutions; collaborating with electrical, fluidics, thermal, and optical designers to develop prototypes of devices, including a compact instrument package considering user ergonomics and executing verification testing; analyzing problems and test results for ensuring quality and conformity of drawings, products, and devices; researching and identifying new technologies and strategic partners to advance product and devices, including design for product reliability, cost options, manufacturability, shipping, and serviceability; and other duties as assigned. Salary range $120K - $150K.

Education: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field (or foreign equivalent).

Requirements: Two (2) years of experience in job offered or related position; two (2) years of experience in concept development, including design analysis, hands-on prototyping, and performance and reliability testing; two (2) years of experience working with scientific/medical instruments design; two (2) years of experience with tolerance stack analyses; and two (2) years of experience using CAD and advanced analysis tools to design mechanisms.
