Part time Administrative Support - Corridor Manager for Merchant Group

The Valencia Corridor Merchants Association (VCMA) Board is looking for a part-time, flexible corridor manager to provide administrative support and run all events and programming on the Corridor in San Francisco (94107).

The corridor manager will support small independent businesses on Valencia, develop close relationships with local business owners, and gain unique and valuable experience in the SF local political scene. By being a point of contact for many community organizations, the corridor manager will also gain connections in the retail, restaurant, arts, and non-profit spaces.

The ideal candidate would have approximately 10-15 hours a week available to support the VCMA - in-person in San Francisco would be nice but is not required. Attendance (Zoom is fine) is required for 1 monthly board meeting, but otherwise, duties can be mostly accomplished remotely and flexibly during weekdays. This role is perfect for someone making a career change, looking for part-time work, perhaps while caring for family, or interested in civic engagement with ideas for improving city life.

Salary will be paid as a 1099 employee at an hourly rate starting at $25/hour based on experience with the opportunity for an increase in pay for exemplary service.

The Corridor Manager will submit a monthly invoice with hours worked and notes on tasks accomplished.

The ideal time frame is to start ASAP until June 2025.

Corridor Manager Support (10-15 hours/wk):

Weekly:

- Respond to or forward emails sent to the VCMA’s general inbox.

- Respond to paperwork requests from City agencies and funding organizations,

- Apply for grants, administer funds, and provide documentation for grant disbursement.

- Accept/decline requests to join a Merchant-only Facebook group

- Answer infrequent questions on Facebook group page, Instagram page, Twitter page

- Direct community requests to the appropriate board member (e.g., graffiti painting request, inoperative lights, noise complaints)

Monthly:

- Responsible for Board meetings - maintains calendar invites, sends attendance reminders, sets up conference room (if in person), takes notes, and shares out action items from board meeting

- Prep emails in MailChimp to be reviewed and approved by either the President or Vice President to send out

Quarterly:

- Organize, promote, and run three General Public Meetings each year

- Set up venue, catering, agenda, and attendees.

Yearly

- Prepare newsletter and year-in-review documents

- Send invoices for members’ dues.

- Update Member info and board info on the website

- Revise and refresh the contact information of all merchants on the Valencia Corridor

As needed:

- Help arrange meetings with City leaders to address Valencia issues - Police, Fire, DPW, SFMTA, etc

- Lead the process for any permits required from the city for Street Closures, Special Events, and Amplified Sound

- May require submitting applications, sourcing letters of support, printing flyers, coordinating with our street closure

team to put out flyers and drop off letters, and attending city meetings on Zoom.

- Help manage teams hired to staff any events or street closures

- Many events will be on weekends, and the Corridor Manager is not required to work on weekends or in person but

is the point person for teams hired to make events happen.

- Ensure that the event staff is hired, paid, and gets the job done.

- Assist treasurer with budgeting and help contractors get paid by the treasurer

- All other administrative duties as they arise
