Mainstream Inc. has offered Supported Living Services to adults with developmental disabilities in Santa Cruz and Watsonville since 1994. We have a Caregiver position available for a thoughtful, reliable person with great people skills. Our client's home is in Santa Cruz at Soquel and Park Way. Our client has her own wheelchair van for her staff to transport her with, a valid driver's license and clean driving record is a requirement. The ability to perform physical wheelchair transfers and personal care is also a requirement.
FT position, M-Th 7a-1:30p. Friday 7a-5p.
Compensation: 31 hrs a week paid at $24/hr. 5 hrs a week paid at $18.75/hr by IHSS.
Employment type: Full-Time, Medical, dental and life insurance.
This client is a 43 year old female artist with Cerebral Palsy. She requires assistance with personal care- physical wheelchair transfers, toileting, showering and hygiene, as well as meal prep, medication administration, help with OT or PT exercises either at home or at a clinic. Light housekeeping is required. She is good natured, friendly and has a very witty sense of humor although she may be quiet at first. There are currently 2 live in caregivers on site who work overnight and weekend shifts mostly, they may be in common spaces of the house during the day at times. There are 2 dogs and 1 cat in the household. Our caregivers are paid by the hour by our company (Mainstream) as well as IHSS, a county funded program. This client has a wheelchair van that her staff use to transport her to appointments and recreational activities so a current drivers license will be necessary as well as a clean driving record. Outside of the typical, necessary tasks, a day shift can also be anything from seeing a movie on Pacific Ave, to going to a jazz festival in Monterey, to a day trip to the Big Sur coast.
An ideal candidate for this position is reliable, communicative, thorough and a hard worker who takes pride in providing an excellent level of care.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

You are also a great self-starter and are comfortable taking initiative independently
You have experience with (or advocating for) people with Developmental Disabilities and/or mental health issues, with references.
You must be at least 18 years old.
You must be able to pass a DOJ fingerprint clearance and background check.
This position is partly funded by the county of Santa Cruz, so you'll need to enroll in In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) as a requirement for this position. Your IHSS registration expenses will be promptly reimbursed. Employees who work full time qualify for medical and dental benefits.
