ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the Director of IBH:

Obtain referrals from the integrated behavioral health team and determine whether patients are appropriate for psychological assessment services. Gather applicable patient information and work in coordination with team members to develop appropriate testing plans.

Conduct psychological assessments, document assessment outcomes, create reports that include recommendations, and communicate outcome to patients, their families as indicated, and the Axis treatment team.

Complete documentation using the electronic health record in a timely fashion while adhering to related laws and regulations for documentation and storage of psychological testing material.

Monitor and coordinate the delivery of health services for clients as related to integrated behavioral health care, including linking with other treatment providers within the primary care setting and in the external environment as applicable.

Assist the primary care provider team in recognizing, treating and managing mental health and psychosocial issues, and act as a contributing member to the primary care team.

Attend weekly IBH staff meetings and other meetings as assigned.

Provide all services in accordance with accepted standards of care and Axis protocols, and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and applicable contractual requirements.

Provide supervision/training to new staff and guidance for team members on difficult cases, where diagnostic clarification where needed, or as assigned.

Conduct other functions of an IBH team member as directed, including warm-handoffs, intakes, or individual counseling.

Complete other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in conducting psychological assessments, ideally to include neuropsychological assessments.

Clear and concise report writing abilities and strong verbal skills.

Experience providing results feedback and recommendations to treatment team members and patients/families.

Experience integrating medical considerations into overall assessment and recommendations as appropriate.

Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and/or experience working with individuals who also struggle with medical issues, to include familiarity with the medical setting.

Demonstrated ability to manage referrals for psychological testing and return assessment reports within a timely manner.

Background/experience in providing a wide range of therapeutic techniques, including short-term, solution-focused therapy approaches, CBT, and DBT techniques. Flexibility in treatment approach is preferred (i.e., ability to conduct short-term and longer-term therapy, ability to meet with patients on the spot, ability to conduct 30 min or 45 min sessions).

Proven ability to build relationships with patients and staff and ability to be service/mission focused.

Computer knowledge and good typing skills; experience using electronic health records is a plus.

Excellent time management skills and ability to meet goals and objectives.

Ability to multi-task effectively; organized and dependable.

Ability to interact effectively and in a professional, supportive manner with persons of all backgrounds in a fast-paced medical clinic environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ph.D/Psy.D in psychology, with a specialization in clinical psychology or neuropsychology.

Current valid California License (California Board of Psychology).

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Work is normally performed in a typical clinic office work environment (and in some cases telecommuting sites). The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical: Occasionally required to carry/lift/push/pull/move up to 20lbs. Frequently required to perform moderately difficult manipulative tasks such as typing, writing, reaching over shoulder, reaching over head, reaching outward, sitting, walking on various surfaces, standing and bending. Occasional travel to other Axis health centers and other occasional travel will be required.

Equipment: Frequently required to use repetitive motion of hands and feet to operate a computer keyboard, telephone, copier and other office equipment for extended periods.

Sensory: Frequently required to read documents, written reports and signage. Must be able to distinguish normal sounds with some background noise, as in answering the phone, interacting with staff etc. Must be able to speak clearly, understand normal communication, and to be understood.

Cognitive: Must be able to analyze information being received, count accurately, concentrate and focus on the given task, summarize the information being received, accurately interpret written data, synthesize information from multiple sources, write summaries as needed, interpret written or verbal instructions, and recognize social or professional behavioral cues.

Environmental Conditions: Frequent exposure to varied office (medical clinic/office) environments. Rare exposure to dust and loud noises.
