$22.50 Non-smoking aide for disabled lesbian elder (Part-time, IHSS)

California, San francisco bay area 00000 San francisco bay area USA
Aplica ya

I am a published writer/photographer with a passion for social justice. I have physical, sensory and cognitive limitations that affect all aspects of my life. My needs vary from day to day and within each day. I live with my life partner and our dare-devil cat. I seek someone to join my team of care providers who can flexibly respond to whatever is going on any given work shift.

A major need right now is massage, including lymphatic drainage massage. I can teach this to you - it takes 20 minutes or less. You do not need to be a CMT and I am NOT looking for erotic massage. I also need help with housework, home and office organizing, rides to appointments, shopping, vegetarian cooking, errands, personal care (no bowel or bladder programs), exercise, fix-it projects, cleaning the cat box and more. For the handyperson projects, it will help if you are 5’10 or taller OR able to comfortably climb 2 steps on a step stool. I would also appreciate having someone patiently teach me and remind me of computer/smartphone etc. best practices and tricks. If you can do some but not all of these and meet the requirements please do apply.

Requirements:

-Fluent English speaker

-Non-smoker

-Fragrance-free. (Nothing scented on your skin, hair or laundry products. Please read the labels on your products. If it doesn’t say “fragrance-free” it will have fragrances, almost always. No dryer sheets.)

-Be or become an IHSS (In-Home Support Services) provider. This means passing a criminal background check and being able to work legally in the US. For more info see PASCC.org

-Current COVID vaccination and boosters. If you’re not vaxxed and boosted tell me why and I will consider on a case-by-case basis.

-Valid driver’s license and a registered, insured vehicle that nobody smokes in. I reimburse for mileage at the federal rate for any driving you do on my behalf. (Not your commute.)

-16 or older

-Able to do this job without exacerbating any health challenges of your own.

Hours are flexible and rarely include early morning or late night. I’m looking to fill 7-20 a week. I prefer to schedule week by week but if you need a set schedule I can accommodate that.

If you’re interested, make sure you meet the requirements. You do not need previous experience as a care provider. If you are a parent you likely have transferable skills. Please send me an email letting me know what hours you’re available and which of the items in the “I need help with” paragraph are things you do well. I appreciate introductions that give me a sense of who you are and how you envision this position fitting into your life. Be sure to answer the following:

1. What times are you available? Is your schedule likely to change?

2. Which of the tasks listed are areas where you shine?

3. Are there any tasks in the list that you cannot/will not do?

4. What experience do you have which is relevant to this job?

5. Do you have any problem being fragrance-free while working for me?

5. Why are you applying for this job in particular?

I look forward to your email, including anything else you’d like me to know about you. Thanks for reading to the end of this long job posting.

Shanti, Salaam, Shalom
