The Local Butcher Shop, located in North Berkeley, is a whole-animal craft butchery, sourcing from local and sustainable ranches and farms. Our butchers are a fun, talented group of folks who enjoy customer service as well as learning. You should LOVE talking about food and always be ready and willing to fill special requests.
We are currently hiring a retail butcher.
Our ideal candidate will come in with basic culinary know-how, but we are happy to provide training for the right person - it's more important to us that you are friendly, outgoing, a hard worker and eager to learn! Hours are generally 7:30-4 or 11:30-8, five days per week, with additional hours required around major holidays. You must be available to work weekends and some weeknights. You must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Wages start at $19.18/hour. We are also a worker-owned cooperative, part-ownership is available to those interested in becoming a member of the cooperative after one year of employment.
