About the Position:
Aspire Education (https://aspireeducation.org/) is excited to partner with SF Community School (125 Excelsior Ave, San Francisco, CA 94112) to provide experienced after-school tutors for 3rd-8th grade ELA and Math.
This 7-week program, running from April 7 to May 23, takes place four days a week—Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 4:15–6:15 PM and Wednesdays from 3-5 PM. Tutors will work in person with small groups (up to 5 students per group) and can select two grade bands to teach (3rd/4th, 5th/6th, or 7th/8th). Each group meets twice weekly, with one session dedicated to Math and the other to ELA.
This role requires structured lesson planning and curriculum development to support students performing below grade level, helping them reach grade-level proficiency. Tutors must design and implement a comprehensive 7-week curriculum, including lessons and pre/post-assessments. We are seeking experienced educators (minimum 2 years of teaching/tutoring experience) who can effectively develop curriculum, tailor instruction for struggling students, and foster an engaging learning environment. Some prep time will be compensated.
About Aspire Education:
For over almost twenty years, Aspire Education has been the Bay Area’s nonprofit leader in effective supplemental education programming. Through our transformative tutoring program, we empower our students with the skills to become independent, active learners. Our work is driven by the conviction that, while potential is equally distributed across lines of race and class, opportunity is not. As a result, we work with individual students on a sliding scale and have partnered with dozens of fellow nonprofits and schools to design custom programs for underserved students.
