We need you NOW Summer Position with Option for Regular School Year Position.
We are looking for a high energy, individual who is excellent with “tricky” kids! This position is one of both a classroom aide, and undercover one-on-one aide for a student who can have some aversions too school work and hyper activity. We want the student to feel like part of the class, and not depend on an aide, or feel different, so you will assist him, when needed, but still act as a classroom aide, assisting others, running centers, recess games, etc… Just there for him when he needs you and thinking of how to always include him in social activities.
Our school is one of a kind, providing an education for “in-betweener” students who don’t need special education, but a large public school is too daunting. That’s where we come in. We differentiate instruction, scaffold friendships, and calmly handle those frustrated moments our students have.
If you have a knack for connecting with a kid that is unique, a little tricky, and may challenge the word “no” then we have meaningful, life changing work for you! Come give a child an opportunity of independence in a school setting, by being his back-up when times are challenging.
Who you are:
Experienced with “tricky” kids
Have a lot of energy, will initiate and play with students on the yard, create crafts and board games in the classroom.
Can run centers, and help students with classroom as directed by the head teacher.
Skilled at helping students with assignments that may be new, scary, and challenging for them
Excellent communication skills with co workers and parents
Must be able to physically move, lift, and engage with active children
Be creative and have a desire to bring art or science and creativity into the classroom
Have an arsenal of recess games, will get down on the ground and build a tower, and play dinosaurs.
Summer Schedule : 5 Weeks: 9-3pm
June 24th
July 8th
July 15th
July 29th
August 5th
Fall School Year
Hours/Pay: $26 an hour- increase in pay depending on summer performance
Regular School Year
Monday-Thursday: 8:30am-3pm
Friday: 8:30am-1pm
