Position Description:

One (1) full-time (40hrs/wk) full-year (260 days/yr) Permanent-Exempt (PEX) position. Exempt employees are considered "at will" and serve at the discretion of the appointing officer. This position is Grant-Funded and is funded on a yearly basis, hours are subject to change after appointment dependent upon grant status.Under the general supervision of the DSPS Department Chair and Dean of Student Success, the 3598 School Aide III assists in the instruction or provision of services to community college students with disabilities. The duties of a School Aide III may include assisting students in applying learning strategies, assisting students using computer adaptations, and providing support services to students.Under the supervision of the Department Chair, the 3598 School Aide III will have responsibilities and duties based in the in the DSPS office, providing services to students with disabilities by supporting DSPS Reception Desk, the Testing Accommodations Desk and assisting to check out special equipment.

Job Duties:

EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES1. Assist with testing accommodations such as receiving request for testing accommodations and scheduling, proctoring, scribing, or reading tests while ensuring test security.2. Greet students, answer phones, and assist with making appointments, providing information, and answering questions form students, faculty, and the general public.3. Check out adaptive equipment and lockers to students and brief students on use.4. Help fill in for the other office staff during lunches, breaks, and absences.5. Attend training and office meetings.6. Data input and file management for MIS submission and Student Learning Outcomes reporting.7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSSuccessful completion of two (2) years of college (60 semester units) PLUS paid experience working with young people or college students.Note: College Work Study and Student Lab Aid experience with the District will be considered/applied as qualified experience per an agreement made between the District and SEIU. This agreement will allow District students to take advantage of employment opportunities. March 2024.

Ability to communicate clearly, interact effectively and sensitively with students and staff from diverse backgrounds and with various disabilities.3. Previous reception and telephone experience.4. Strong ability to multi-task.5. Experience working with persons with disabilities.6. Experience proctoring tests.7. Computer literate and familiar with common office applications.8. Experience with SARS Grid program.9. Ability to speak Spanish or Chinese, or communicate in American Sign Language.

Benefits1. Additional Days Off with Pay. As stipulated in the appropriate bargaining agreements and board resolutions, Classified employees working full-year (260 days/year) work schedules are granted, as paid days off, the days between Christmas Day and New Years Day, as well as an additional five (5) paid days off during spring break. Eligible school-term-only (STO) employees who are not scheduled to work the designated days between Christmas and New Years Day shall be granted three (3) paid days off to be scheduled by mutual agreement between the employee and supervisor. Eligible school- term-only (STO) employees who are not scheduled to work the days designated as Spring Break will not be paid for these days off.

2. New employees hired on or after October 1, 2013 will contribute 2% of salary to the San Francisco Retiree Health Care Trust Fund (RHCTF).
