Spinnaker Sailing is a premier sailing school dedicated to providing high-quality sailing instruction for students of all ages and skill levels. Spinnaker was established in 1980 and been operating in Redwood City for 45 years. The school is located at the Port of Redwood City Marina in Redwood City, CA. We offer a range of programs, from beginner lessons to advanced classes, in a fun and safe learning environment. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sailing School Manager to lead our instructional programs and daily operations.
Job Overview
The Sailing School Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the sailing school, including program development, student and member engagement, instructor management, student enrollment, club memberships, sailing vacations, corporate events and equipment maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sailing instruction, leadership experience, and a passion for educating and inspiring students on the water.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, coordinate, and manage all sailing school programs and activities.
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise sailing instructors and staff.
Ensure all programs adhere to safety standards and best practices in sailing instruction.
Work with maintenance staff to manage the school’s fleet of boats and equipment.
Oversee student registration, scheduling, and communication.
Monitor financial performance and assist in budget management.
Promote the school’s programs through community engagement and marketing efforts.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for students and staff.
Qualifications & Experience
AMERICAN SAILING ASSOCIATION or equivalent instructor certification preferred.
USCG license a plus.
Extensive sailing experience with a strong knowledge of instructional techniques.
Previous management or leadership experience in a sailing school or similar environment.
Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
Ability to maintain and manage sailing equipment and fleet.
First Aid, CPR, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain).
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
