POSITION SUMMARY:

Axis Community Health, Inc. is looking for a highly motivated, self-directed individual to fill the newly created role of Financial Analyst. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will work closely with the CFO, industry experts, finance team and members of management from across the organization. The Financial Analyst will add value to ACH by providing key financial and operational performance information to drive strategic decisions, including [digging into] per unit economics (revenues and expenses), analysis of alternative payment methodologies, risk assessment, vendor analyses and other key business drivers and performance indicators. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining the enterprise-wide business intelligence platform (i.e. Adaptive Insights), providing easy-access to finance and program data that supports strategic decision-making, developing budgets, preparing financial analyses and reports (both internal and external), and supporting the CFO in analyzing health care payment models. The Business Analyst/Enterprise Data Manager will also be responsible for documenting all processes related to essential duties and responsibilities of this position as part of ACH’s overall change management process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer:

Enterprise Database Management: Developing, maintaining and improving the enterprise-wide business intelligence platform (i.e. Adaptive Insights) to provide timely financial information for managers and directors for decision making; Developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders to provide technical guidance and training; Continuously expanding knowledge and capabilities of the platform, including integrated dash boarding and performance metrics; and retaining best practices and processes.

Business Development and Financial Forecasting: Provides budgeting, financial forecasting and performance monitoring for new areas of business growth. Research alternative payment methodologies that support program integration.

Budget Development and Monitoring: Supports the CFO in the development and revision of annual agency budgets, monitoring and forecasting financial performance against budgets; prepares monthly financial dashboard for Board of Directors; provides budget forecasting to Program Managers and Directors, as needed.

Grants and Contracts Oversight and Reporting: Works with CFO to ensure that fiscal requirements for grants and contracts are identified, realized and monitored; provides budget support for grant process; reviews and advises on the financial and accounting aspects of contracts prior to their execution.

Financial Analysis: Support CFO in preparation of analyses of ACH’s lines of business, and other enterprise wide analyses.

Internal Training: Coordinates with the CFO to educate across multiple levels of the organization the fundamental concepts of nonprofit finance in a healthcare setting.

Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

Strong organizational and analytical skills.

Strong financial database and reporting skills.

Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles.

Demonstrates ability to work effectively with internal and external partners.

Excellent problem-solving skills required, including creativity, resourcefulness, timeliness, and technical knowledge related to analyzing and resolving financial / administrative problems.

Experience with Sage 100 accounting software and Adaptive Insights a plus.

Demonstrates interest in the mission and values of Axis Community Health, Inc.

Ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with persons of all backgrounds.

Ability to work efficiently and effectively individually or in a team environment.

Work with minimal supervision and exercise sound judgment within scope of authority.

Excellent written, verbal and telephone communication skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters level degree in business or related field preferred. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in similar business-related or administrative major will be considered with substantial experience in a similar position.

Experience developing and using analytical models and conducting data analyses that inform business decisions.

Previous experience and/or familiarity with non-profit community health centers strongly preferred.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Work is normally performed in a typical office or clinic work environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job. Physical: Occasionally required to carry/lift/push/pull/move up to 30lbs. Frequently required to perform moderately difficult manipulative tasks such as typing, writing, etc. Must be able to stand, sit for extended periods. Requires the ability to reach with hands and arms and occasionally climb stairs. Requires sitting operating a computer keyboard, telephone and other equipment for extended periods of time. Occasional travel to other Axis health centers and other travel will be required.

Sensory: Frequently required to read documents, written reports and signage. Must be able to distinguish normal sounds with some background noise, as in answering the phone, interacting with staff etc.

Environmental Conditions: Frequent exposure to varied office (medical clinic/office) environments. Occasional exposure to dust and loud noises.

Equipment: Frequently required to use a computer, phone, copy machine fax machine and other medical office equipment.
