We are seeking a committed and passionate accounting manager who can become part of Terra School.

Job Summary: The primary function of this position is to assist in day-to-day business office operations associated with tuition management and perform a variety of general accounting tasks to ensure the integrity and reliability of the financial records and reports of Terra Marin School including:

Manage tuition accounts and billing, including collections follow up and communication.

Serve as a primary point of contact for parent questions relating to payment plans and billing.

Provide analysis of tuition and fees accounts, as well as other general ledger records.

Responsible for paying invoices related to all school expenses

Essential Functions:

Provide quality customer service to all parents, co-workers, students, faculty and staff.

Tuition Receivables:

Act as a point of contact for parent tuition questions.

Post all charges, credits and adjustments to tuition accounts.

Maintain delinquency management by sending notifications and following up on past due accounts.

Accounts Payable:

Pay invoices as they come due

Manage Quickbooks, record entries and reconcile accounts

Write check for staff reimbursement.

Coordinate with admissions and enrollment during annual registration.

Input tuition and fee rates on all payment plans.

Reconcile enrollment records with payment records in the schools accounting system - Praxi.

Budgeting, Forecasting, and Reporting

Monitor spendings and ensure expenses are coded accurately

Maintain accounting systems and proactively correct errors found in accounting system and budget software

Provide support to the Director of Finance with budget forecasts and projections

Review financial statements on a monthly and quarterly basis with the Director of Finance

Prepare budget reports and analysis for finance leadership, budget owners, and other stakeholders on an as needed basis

Provide insight on spending trends and cost savings

Banking and Cash Management

Manage, approve, and record wire transfers

Monitor cash flow

Maintain fiscal and financial-related records and files.

Prepare and post journal entries into accounting records.

Assist management in making business decisions based on analysis of data.

Assist in the preparation of workpapers for the external audit.

Other projects as assigned by the Head of School.

Qualifications and Experience:

Required:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in accounting, or a major in business or other related field with an emphasis or minor in accounting.

Minimum three years' experience in accounting, finance, fiscal management and budget oversight.

Desired:

School or other non-profit experience.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position with benefits as outlined in the Employee Handbook. This position is 40+ hours per week (subject to change based on season). Daily schedule is 8:00am to 4pm.
