Summary of Job Details
Reporting to the Marketing, Communications, and Engagement (MCE) Director, works independently to lead, implement, and collaborate on social media campaigns and projects that achieve organizational, enrollment, and program-specific objectives. This position manages a large portfolio of social media channels and projects and helps decentralized account coordinators at study centers and within the University of California Education Abroad Programs (UCEAP) systemwide offices to achieve organizational, student-centered goals. Through relationship building and channel-specific expertise, the social media manager collaborates in creating strong social media content that builds and strengthens UCEAP's voice, brand, and communication. Based on working knowledge of UCEAP programs and expertise in UCEAP's marketing programs and objectives, analyzes data, makes recommendations, designs, implements and maintains a comprehensive, multi-dimensional social media program. Maintains currency with emerging content, channels, and social media strategy and leverages expertise for continuous improvement. Works closely with the Multi-Media Designer(s) and the digital marketing specialist and collaborates with the MCE team and program staff.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations, marketing, journalism, or related field and two or more years of relevant marketing/communications experience with social media programs, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Experience creating social media content across channels for an organization, company or institution.
Experience with and understanding of social media marketing strategies to target applicable audiences.
4 or more years of social media management experience with demonstrated record of achieving marketing and communications objectives.
Ability to accurately research, organize and interpret information; assist in the coordination/preparation of strategic communications plans.
Strong knowledge and proficient use of various social media channels including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Pinterest and YouTube.
Ability to exhibit sound judgement as it relates to all forms of communication.
Knowledge of digital communication media, including relevant software, equipment and/or content management systems.
Familiarity with Macintosh and Windows operating systems and relevant applications, including MS Office, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc. Excellent verbal, interpersonal, group/team and public communication skills.
Excellent written communication skills with proven ability to write effectively under deadline for a variety of purposes, goals, audiences and media.
Ability to represent organizational objectives, brand and voice while tailoring messages to intended audiences and appropriate media channel/format.
Ability to use data and creative problem solving for technical and creative solutions and deliverables.
Ability to work professionally with diverse teams of faculty, administrators, staff and constituents.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Ability to prioritize and manage time and tasks effectively to meet deadlines and time sensitive objectives, while adjusting to emergent priorities.
Ability to maintain a system of prioritizing, tracking, monitoring to managing tasks and projects for multiple programs.
Proficiency in using relevant social media channels for marketing and communications.
Special Conditions of Employment
The UCEAP Systemwide Office is located in Goleta, CA (near the UCSB campus). Type of work arrangement eligibility: Hybrid. On-site presence will be required for leadership and staff meetings, delegation visits, training sessions, etc. The University is unable to pay or reimburse expenses prohibited by University policy, including travel expenses associated with commuting to the designated office.
