Description We are seeking a meticulous and organized File Clerk to join our team onsite in the Tenderloin. This role is vital in maintaining the integrity of our case files and ensuring that all documents are accurately categorized and stored. The File Clerk will work on the mezzanine floor, where numerous case files are kept, and will be responsible for organizing, logging, and, when necessary, shredding files based on our retention policy.Key Responsibilities:

Organize case files by year of closure, address, and category. Ensure all documents are easily retrievable and properly labeled.

Maintain case files that have been closed based on the settlement document within the past 5 years. For cases older than 5 years, condense and prepare them for shredding in accordance with our document retention policy.

Log case details into the Practice Master software for all files within the 5-year retention period. Ensure accuracy and completeness of the data.

Safely and securely shred files that are outside the 5-year retention period, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with legal and organizational standards.

Assist with other clerical tasks as needed, including photocopying, scanning, and answering basic inquiries regarding file management.

Requirements

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Previous experience in a clerical or administrative role, preferably within a legal or nonprofit setting.

Proficiency with data entry and familiarity with document management software; experience with Practice Master software is a plus.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks.

Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
