Prep Cook or AM Line Cook with Smokin J's BBQ

We are looking for prep cooks AND a.m. line cooks who work fast with strong attention to detail, with a desire to serve only THE BEST food to work at our Gaslamp Quarter location. Both positions are full time, working 30-40 hours per week.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL APPLICANTS:

- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, nights, and certain holidays.

- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

- Must be able to bend, stoop, reach above your head and do repetitive hand movements, i.e. chopping, cutting, walking,

lifting.

- Required to wear proper attire.

PREP/ SAUCIER POSITION: This is a full-time position, 30-40 hours/week. We are looking for prep cooks who work fast with strong attention to detail, and with a desire to serve only THE BEST food. The kitchen is friendly, but the standards are high. You will be responsible for learning and mastering the prep lists, recipes, protein breakdown, baking prep, vegetable prep, and sauce prep. Willingness to learn some line cooking as well during down time. Prep cooks are expected to clean before, during, and after shifts and maintain spotless workstations. BBQ restaurant experience is a plus as well as a strong background in making bulk sauces!

A.M. COOK POSITION: This is a full-time position (with part-time available), 30-40 hours/week, beginning your shift at 8:30 or 9a.m We are looking for cooks who work fast with strong attention to detail, with a desire to serve only THE BEST food. The kitchen is friendly, but the standards are high. Cooks are expected to have excellent knifed skills and work quickly. You will be responsible for learning and mastering each position on the line as well as handling protein breakdown, vegetable prep, and some sauce prep. Cooks are expected to clean before, during, and after shifts and maintain spotless workstations. BBQ and Brunch experience is a plus!

Both Positions:

Assumes 100% responsibility for the quality, food safety/sanitation, and timeliness of dishes served

Responsible for knowing and understanding menu items, safety guidelines, sanitation guidelines, and will be required to obtain Food Handlers Certification.

- Can work with necessary restaurant equipment safely and with care

- Shows up when scheduled

- Maintains a clean and sanitary work station and contributes to cleanliness of all parts of the kitchen to ensure smooth

service and sanitation guidelines

- Handles, stores, and rotates all products properly in accordance with health department standards

- Closes the kitchen properly, opens kitchen properly, follows lists made and adds to them when necessary

PAY FOR COOKS: Pay will be $19-$21/hr based on experience and performance in your stage. With tips you will make $24-$29 per hour.
