Senior Data Engineer (Pacific Investment Management Company LLC (PIMCO) – Newport Beach, CA); Multiple positions available. Conduct Data modeling for Financial Products and Issuers and managing changes to data models; Build data pipelines to onboard and enrich Issuer and Instrument reference data; Design and architect systems to consume, contribute and publish core datasets across the organization as well across organizational boundaries; Design databases to support PIMCO's internal business applications, ensuring system scalability, security, performance and reliability; Assist in the design, maintenance, improvement and implementation of performance monitoring tools; Monitor and report systems resource consumption trends to assure production systems meet availability requirements; Liaise with software developers, data architects, data analysts, and data scientists to understand business requirements of various departments and solve complex data and usage problems; Document and communicate database schemas, using accepted notations; and Test changes to database applications or systems.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field plus 5 years of experience in the position offered or in performing data engineering or architecture. Must have 5 years of experience in each of the following: Contemporary Data Engineer Tools, including Snowflake, Airflow, and dbT; Developing analytical data models on Snowflake; Relational databases; ETL, ELT, and API based Integrations; Building streaming solutions with Kafka; Git; CICD; and DevOps. Experience may be gained concurrently.
