Macdonald & Cody, LLP is an established insurance defense litigation firm specializing in catastrophic personal injury cases. We are seeking highly motivated attorneys to join our pre-litigation team.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, can work independently, and function well as part of a team. This is a great opportunity for an attorney looking to gain knowledge and experience regarding insurance defense, claims, settlements and post-settlement approval by Court.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Review and analysis of pre-litigation settlement demands to formulate appropriate strategy and timeline to effectuate settlement of personal injury and wrongful death claims.

Determine all possible claimants who may be eligible to participate in settlement and facilitate settlement of all known claims.

Review and analysis of insurance policy documentation to confirm appropriate persons to be included in settlement.

Secure required documentation to ensure compliance with any conditional demands.

Maintain active and ongoing communication with clients, carriers and opposing counsel regarding case status.

Draft legal correspondence and settlement documents.

Draft Petitions to Approve Compromise of Claims of Minor.

Attend mediations, court hearings and recorded statement of clients.

Ensure payment issuance to claimants in a timely manner.

Work closely with team members on case strategy and resolution of any settlement issues.

Qualifications:

Excellent communication skills, including written, telephone and in-person.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Ability to multi-task and handle a large caseload with varying deadlines.

Knowledge of local, state, and federal court rules and filing procedures is a plus, but not required.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and instruction.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc. and Adobe).

The ideal candidate must:

Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The salary range in California for this role is $85,000 - $120,000 and represents the firm's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, and location.
