The Fleet Manager is a crucial member of our operations team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of fleet management. This role focuses on optimizing fleet performance, driving improvement efforts, resolving issues, mitigating risks, ensuring safety, managing costs, and continuously enhancing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Fleet Operations Oversight: Serve as the primary liaison between field operations, the home office, and fleet management partners. Ensure vehicle data, programs, and policies are accurate and up-to-date. Manage daily fleet operations to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
Strategy Implementation: Develop and execute strategies to improve fleet utilization, reduce costs, and enhance service quality. Provide recommendations for long-term fleet performance improvements.
Compliance and Safety: Ensure all vehicles meet safety and regulatory compliance standards. Stay informed about industry advancements in technology, tools, and procedures for improved efficiency.
Leadership: Collaborate with business leaders to develop and define best practices for drivers and vehicles, fostering a culture of safety and excellence.
Vendor Management: Work with vehicle vendors, repair facilities, insurance providers, and others to ensure optimal fleet performance. Identify potential cost savings through active negotiations.
Data Analysis: Utilize data to monitor fleet performance and make informed strategic and tactical business decisions.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience: A bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics, or a related field is preferred. A minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Fleet Manager or in a similar role is required. Experience managing fleet operations across multiple locations is a plus.
Core Skills: Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and decision-making abilities. Experience developing, analyzing, and presenting metrics for data-driven decision-making.
Software Proficiency: Proficiency with fleet management and logistics software is strongly preferred. Expertise with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Vendor Management: Experience working with fleet management companies is strongly preferred. Experience sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing vehicles.
Change Management: Experience driving change management in complex organizations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Mechanical Background: A background in mechanics is a plus. Experience with diesel engines and hydraulics is highly desirable.
Driver's License: Class A driver’s license is preferred.
