The selected Engineers would work as part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting the development of both directed energy and electro-optical systems.Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced or Lead Mechanical Design Engineer.This position is part of the rapidly growing Electro-Optics Infrared (EO/IR) Mission Systems team within BR&T. This team has more than quadrupled in size over the past 18 months due to new contract wins and continues to see increased demand from Boeing’s customers. We’re designing, building, and testing cutting edge sensor systems for airborne and space platforms. Our focus is always on the mission – connecting people through safer air travel and protection of the warfighter from its adversaries. This isn’t your typical Boeing team – we are focused on the entire lifecycle of design: from modeling and simulation of new ideas, through prototype demonstrations, and eventually transitioning to production systems.Our team provides complete engineering solutions to Boeing and its customers, including systems engineering, optics design, mechanical design, algorithms, software development, firmware development, electronics, and advanced system modeling and simulations. Utilize CAD for mechanical designs
Assist and Collaborate with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Collaborate with peers on design
Present designs to management, senior leaders, and customers
Hands on hardware integration
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret clearance Post-Start is required.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
3+ years of experience in a mechanical engineering role
Experience with engineering release processes, engineering requirements and documentation associated with space products
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with electro-optic development programs
Experience with systems engineering and integration of complex systems
Experience with Finite Element Analysis tools such as Hypermesh, Inspire, FEMAP, ANSYS and other industry FEA tools
Experience technical analysis (i.e., Structural, Thermal, Dynamics, etc.)
Experience working with Solid Works, NX, Creo, Teamcenter and other industry standard CAD and PDM tools
Typical Education/Experience:Experienced (Level 3)Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).
