Job InformationOpen to the general public and any current Municipal employee.This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.DEPARTMENT: Public TransportationHOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.LOCATION: 3600 Dr Martin Luther King Jr AvenueExample of DutiesThis position will have the primary responsibility of completing timekeeping duties. Such duties will include reviewing, editing, and approving complex timekeeping and payroll records, across various timekeeping systems used by the Municipality, for the purposes of preparing those records for accurate payroll. This position is required to learn and achieve mastery of the intricate rules of all Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) and Personnel Rules that govern how employees are paid at this department. This position will also serve as the first contact point for employees regarding any questions they may have about their pay and/or provide assistance with paperwork relating to their payroll. This position will also complete administrative duties as assigned, which include but are not limited to: processing payroll, accounts payables and credit card reconciliations, revenue reconciliations, and document filing.Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / PreferencesHigh school diploma, GED or equivalent and four (4) years of experience in payroll and/or accounting.ORAssociate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and two (2) years of experience in payroll and/or accounting.ORBachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and experience in payroll and/or accounting.Preferences:

Timekeeping experience

Accounts Payable experience

Experience working in an organized labor environment

Experience applying wage and hour Federal, State, or local laws, rules or regulations
