Do you love the farmers' market and want to make extra money on Saturday mornings? We are seeking a reliable and charming Bakery Clerk to join our team.
As a Bakery Clerk, you will be responsible for assisting customers, preparing bakery items, driving, and maintaining a clean and organized work space.
We are a small farmers' market based business, sales are conducted Saturday morning at the market and the main baking shift is on Friday. Other prep hours are available during the week, in house baking hours are flexible.
The outdoor market is open April 13 through November 2. The Saturday shift starts at 6am.
Duties:
- Assist customers in selecting bakery products and provide exceptional customer service
- Prepare bakery items
- Package and label bakery products for display and sale
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bakery including cleaning equipment and work areas
- Operate cash register and handle cash transactions accurately
- Follow food safety guidelines and ensure compliance with health and sanitation regulations
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks
Skills:
- Food preparation: Knowledge of baking techniques and ability to follow recipes accurately
- Math: Basic math skills for measuring ingredients, calculating quantities, and handling cash transactions
- Sales: Ability to provide excellent customer service and promote bakery products
- Food service: Understanding of food safety practices and ability to maintain cleanliness in the bakery
- Time management: Efficiently prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Cash handling: Experience handling cash transactions accurately
- Must have valid drivers' license and be able to drive the bakery van
- Ability to stand during your shift, lift 40lbs, and assist setting up at the farmers' market
