Position DescriptionAt a Glance Legrand has an exciting opportunity for aMechanical Engineerto join theLighting Sector Kenall Teamin Kenosha, WI. Responsible for product design and modification to meet customer needs. Position will also assist Program Manager in facilitating product planning and development. Responsible for meeting schedules and technical product development. Position will also lead or participate in cost reduction and productivity process improvements as needed. What Will You Do?

Design and develop lighting products utilizing 3D parametric modeling systems.

Analyze and improve designs via thermal and static simulations.

Interface with prototype shops to build custom designs utilizing 3D printing, precision proto molding and precision machining.

Interface with performance laboratory regarding thermal, photometric and electrical conducted and radiated emission testing.

Own specific pieces of product design throughout the product lifecycle, maintaining all cost, performance, and schedule requirements.

Initiate and coordinate new vendors and alternate components.

Participate in productivity process improvements with manufacturing engineering.

Serve as a technical resource for purchasing.

Perform ECNs, drafting, documentation, and as required.

Develop layouts and detailed drawings (flat, form, weld assemblies, etc.) using 3-D solid modeling software.

Occasional domestic travel expected.

QualificationsCritical Skills/Expertise:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.

2+ years of experience within the lighting industry preferred.

Proficient in the use of CAD/CAM systems, and other related experience acquired from lower grade positions.

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to determine the origin of problems and initiate corrective action.

Strong written and verbal English communication skills as required.

Must be professional in appearance and attitude and possess the ability to work in a professional manner with customers, vendors, and employees at all levels.

High level of self-initiative and dependability.

Must be flexible to perform overtime duties or adjust schedule when required.

Resourceful and highly organized with an attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to manage, prioritize and balance multiple tasks.

Ability to work within a team environment.
