Find your future with us.The Boeing Company is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the KC-46 Tanker team located in Tukwila, WA. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.The KC-46 Tanker program is the premier Air-to-Air Refueling platform for the United States Airforce and international partners. Recent contract awards have enabled team expansion and growth. This franchise program is anticipated to continue to be a stable program for the foreseeable future.The KC-46 Tanker program is seeking software engineers to be part of our Aerial Refueling and Mission Systems Software support, integration and development team. Engineers on this team support are responsible for key capabilities such as situational awareness, military data networks, boom control laws, sensor integration, aerial refueling operator station interfaces, as well as the software execution environment for the platform.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Recognized as a software subject matter expert for System Architecture and Integration, sensors, resolvers, actuators, and Electro-Hydraulic Solenoid Valves

Leads activities to develop, document and maintain complex architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems

Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system

Provides technical leadership for software projects and leading software supplier management activities

Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics

Plans, executes, documents and leads software research and development projects

Tracks and evaluates software team and/or supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards

Proven record in training and mentoring others

Works independently and under consultative direction

Provides subject matter expertise in supporting unit and system level test, aircraft delivery, ground and flight-based test events, and aircraft troubleshooting/issue resolution

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads activities to develop, document and maintain complex architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.

Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system.

Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.

Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities.

Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics.

Leads software research and development projects. Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.

Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.

Trains and mentors others.

Works under consultative direction.

The successful candidate enjoys working collaboratively with others, has a commitment to customer satisfaction and process improvement, and is successful working in a multi-contract/multi-program environment.This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance for which the US Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security clearance Post-Start.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

Requires ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance

Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree

10+ years of Ada, C, or C programming experience

10+ years of experience with Linux or Windows development environments

5+ years’ experience mentoring others

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Current Secret U.S. Security Clearance Preferred

Significant experience in the following areas is highly desired

Specific scripting languages: XML, Pearl, Python

Agile software development processes

Use case development

Typical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.Travel:Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.Relocation:This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
