Find your future with us.Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Lead Mechanical Systems Design and Configurator Engineer to join our Space, Intelligence, and Weapon Systems Phantom Works (SI&WS) division in Tukwila, WA., in support of Phantom Works Space programs.The position will support the design, development, integration, and process development of innovative mechanical, fluid, thermal, and electrical systems for space applications. The position provides an opportunity work with an experienced, interdisciplinary team to develop unique systems to meet challenging requirements on a dynamic development area.Phantom Works Space focuses on the development of the next-generation technologies utilizing rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies. We create the next generation products and services for the Boeing Defense, Space & Security business. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.Position Responsibilities:

Lead development and verification of space vehicle mechanical design and configuration

Analyze and verify mechanical performance of hardware components a vehicle

Perform detailed system design and verification activities

Support system level integration and validation

Analyze system level performance

Using rapid prototyping methods and tools, evaluate new concepts for design and process development/improvement

Manage performance of critical suppliers to ensure subsystem compliance and delivery

Ability to provide hands-on support in the completion of hardware projects

Lead development of project plan, budget and schedule and independently execute the plan.

Provide inputs and expertise in fabrication processes for proposal responses and new business development

Organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is requiredThis position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

5 or more years of mechanical engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance or higher

Leadership experience in space systems design, architecture definition, and functional analysis

Hands-on experience in rapid prototyping of hardware, including utilizing dev kits, 3D printing, and embedded software

Education and/or experience that spans multiple engineering design disciplines, including electrical and materials

Experience with working in classified environments

Typical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).
