Seattle’s Friendliest Bike Shop Seeks Like-Minded Retail Sales Team Member

JRA Bike Shop

compensation: $22-$25 DOE, paid holidays, accrued PTO, and employee discounts

employment type: full-time

JRA Bike Shop, aka “Seattle’s Friendliest Bike Shop,” is looking for someone to work full time talking with customers, helping folks find the right bike, and ordering and selling bikes and accessories.

You think on your feet, work well under pressure, care about bikes and biking, and talk to customers with patience, understanding, and respect.

You are kind, kid-friendly, a feminist, and sensitive to differences (including pronouns, cultures, accents, disabilities, and body types). We believe everyone belongs on a bike, and everyone should have access to a safe and encouraging cycling culture.

Availability: This is a full-time position. You will work a minimum of 5 days/week through the busy season, including Saturdays, typically winding down in October.

You will spend your day:

Speaking with customers in person, over the phone, and over email.

Discovering how we can help customers and connecting them with repairs, sales, or advice.

Working with our point of sale and inventory software.

Managing our existing inventory, looking at sales data, testing new products, and placing orders for new inventory.

Getting customers excited about biking!

We are looking for someone who:

Is enthusiastic about biking in all of its forms.

Is friendly and can spend all day talking to people about bikes and biking.

Is flexible and easy going.

Social media savvy is a plus.

Retail experience is a plus.

Here’s what you get: a competitive hourly wage, paid holidays, accrued PTO, and employee discounts. Also lots of bad puns, plenty of coffee or tea, free lunch on Saturdays, visits from neighborhood pups, and near-wholesale pricing on bike parts.

To apply, send your resume along with a note telling us why you’re a good match for Seattle’s friendliest bike shop. It would be terrific if you came with a year or two of retail store experience and a passion for bicycles.

We believe that a work environment can be enjoyable and flexible, yet still productive. We seek employees with the same mindset.
