Sales associate position with creative boutiques

Washington, Seattle-tacoma, 98101 Seattle-tacoma USA

Our seasoned team of tight-knit store managers is seeking part-time sales associates to support our day-to-day operations. The sales associates will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, energetics, and welcoming atmosphere of our two spaces (hours spent at one or the other locations to be determined based on applicant’s unique skill set and schedule needs).

Both of our shops are located on historic Ballard Avenue. BEGIN, a staple in the main square, is a curated jewelry gallery featuring handcrafted adornments. Voyager, a jungle-like store nestled mid-block, showcases clothing, plants, and home goods. BEGIN and Voyager are so much more than retail spaces—they are environments in which anyone (everyone!) can feel creative, exploratory, and beautiful in their own way.

As proud stewards of the Ballard community, our team—managers and sales associates alike—provide guests with authentic interactions and meaningful experiences.

Your task list will include but is not limited to:

Cleaning. BEGIN’s displays are predominantly made up of glass and mirrors which need daily wipe-downs. Voyager’s many shelves and clothing racks need regular dusting and straightening. Both stores require daily vacuuming, spot-cleaning windows, and taking out trash and recycling.

Plant care. Careful inspection and treatment of new plants when they arrive from the nursery to ensure they are pest-free and healthy is a must. Watering is needed up to three times weekly in both spaces, and Voyager has 100+ plants at any given time.

Processing inventory. We frequently receive inventory at both locations, so you will assist the manager with this process. This will most often involve unpacking, tagging, and organizing back stock. On busier days, you might be restocking inventory or running the register while the manager restocks.

Customer engagement. You will likely be the first point of contact for our guests and it’s important that everyone feels invited into the space.

To thrive with us, you’re the kind of person who:

strives for clear communication and emotional maturity;

is coachable, reliable, and eager to learn but content in a supportive role;

can independently handle delegated tasks but isn’t afraid to ask clarifying questions;

dedicated to keeping displays smudge-free and sparkling and workspaces tidy;

loves plants—we have a ton of plants that need weekly care;

must love dogs—we have a beloved shop dog and both of our establishments are dog friendly.

What you can expect from us:

A strong, seasoned leadership team invested in the well being of each other, the spaces we tend, and our community.

No matter their level of experience, our philosophy is that everyone is a teacher and everyone is a student. Each person on the team has something to contribute and learn.

A team that nurtures personal growth, creativity, and a strong work ethic.

Clear communication and honest feedback during your training and beyond.

Consistency with expectations and job duties with clearly defined roles.

We value each team member and recognize that, no matter your role, everyone is integral to the operation.

Come grow with us!

Availability: weekends are the priority, weekdays are great, too. Schedule blocks available Tuesdays - Sunday, generally sometime between 10:30 am to 8:30 pm.

Compensation: $18+ per hour.

It’s great if you have previous retail experience, but it’s not a requirement.
