Position: Purchasing and Subcontract Administrator
Status: Non-Exempt
Location: Auburn, Washington
Department: Purchasing
SUMMARY:
The Purchasing and Subcontract Administrator is responsible for the procurement of materials and/or services that support the day-to-day operations of a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 145 Repair Station. The position purchases raw materials, equipment, machinery and/or supplies for the operation of the organization at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, delivery and other factors. Additionally, the position is responsible for the entire lifecycle of the respective subcontract including defining the requirements, researching opportunities, negotiating with sources, writing and awarding subcontracts, and closeout when the subcontract terms are completed. The position is responsible for decision making that has a significant impact on the organization’s goals, profit, operations and reputation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares bid specifications, receives bids and makes purchases of commodities or goods in a cost effective and timely manner.
Purchases materials or equipment that are processed, consumed or used or support the repair station
Ensures subcontracted vendors comply with all company policies.
Identify, analyze and source vendors that meet requirements of subcontracting task.
Negotiate cost and deliveries that are in line with companies expectations.
Clearly communicate pertinent information to supervisor relating to the decision making process for subcontracted items outside positions authority to approve.
Review CMM, technical data, engineering responses, and other processes for accuracy prior to sending part(s) to subcontracting vendor.
Manage open repair orders to meet customers’ requirements.
Work with procurement team to creatively resolve issues that could potentially violate customers’ requirements and/or contractual agreements.
Clearly communicate with supervisor and/or appropriate company personnel when customers’ requirements and/or contractual agreements will be violated.
Prepare monthly reports related to subcontracting and company goals.
Preform back up duties for other team members if necessary.
Report to work on a regular and consistent basis.
REQUIRED ABILITY TO:

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent.
DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Twenty-four (24) months of experience in aviation procurement position.
Supply chain or related aviation experience.
Familiarity with aviation industry, aircraft knowledge and technical documents.
Any combination of education and experience to demonstrate proficiency.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Frequent work in an office environment with extended computer use and paperwork.
Frequent work in a production and controlled environment setting.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and have freedom of movement to enable inspection of interior and exterior of small to large uniquely shaped parts.
Must have a good vision and be able to stand for extended periods of time.
