The Program Coordinator is responsible for the daily operations of the international student admissions process, which includes customer service and admissions coordination, database management and reporting, partnership development, and quarterly orientation. The ideal candidate must have supportive cross-cultural communication skills, strong organizational abilities, an aptitude for excellent customer service, and a flair for building authentic relationships with students, staff, and partners.

This position reports to the Associate Director of International Outreach and Partnerships. It works closely with the Student Exchange and Visitor Information System (SEVIS) Manager and the International Education team and requires regular and consistent in-person attendance. This position is eligible for one day a week of telework.

Essential Functions:

The International Admissions Coordinator be responsible for the following, but not limited to:

Integrated Institutional & Program Core

Actively advances Pierce College's goals for equity and inclusion to provide access and support for our diverse community of learners.

Contributes to an engaged and supportive team with shared accountability for the equitable success of international students

Participates in committees and task forces to ensure collaboration on reducing barriers and advancing equitable access, opportunity, and success.

Customer Service and Admissions Coordination

Provide exceptional customer service to international applicants and related stakeholders, offering guidance and support from initial inquiry to enrollment.

Advise applicants through the application procedures, academic pathways, and transfer credit evaluation.

Respond promptly to inquiries via various channels, including email, phone, and in-person interactions, ensuring accurate and timely information delivery.

Process applications promptly and ensure compliance with SEVIS regulations.

Manage the processing of international student applications efficiently, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and adherence to college policies and procedures.

Evaluate international transcripts, credentials, and English proficiency test scores to determine eligibility for admission and placement.

Maintain (Designated School Official) DSO status and keep current on SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Program) regulation and policy.

Database Management and Data Reporting

Maintain accurate records of international student inquiries, applications, and admissions data using student information systems and databases.

Ensure data integrity and security, including the confidentiality of student information, in compliance with data privacy regulations and institutional policies.

Utilize database resources to track applicant progress, analyze enrollment trends, and generate reports to support decision-making and strategic planning.

Generate reports on international student enrollment, demographics, and outcomes to meet IE and institutional reporting requirements.

Report incidents of improper documentation submissions

Partnership Development

Maintain relationships with local high schools, educational agencies, partner institutions, and community organizations to support international student recruitment efforts.

Collaborate with recruitment agents, school counselors, and international education networks to expand the college's reach and attract diverse cohorts of international students.

Participate in community events and networking opportunities to promote the college's programs, strengthen partnerships, and enhance visibility in the international education community.

Quarterly Orientation

Collaborate with the IE team to coordinate orientation timeline and events.

Provide support for the new student orientation.

Assist with check-in. Work with the IEP manager & IE advisors for testing and registration processes.

Work with essential staff involved with orientation and communicate with program assistants the logistics needed for each quartet's orientation calendar, room reservations, meal ordering, etc.

Other Duties

Completes other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

Education Required

Associate's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent education and experience.

Experience Required

Two (2) years of experience working directly with customers by phone, e-mail, and face-to-face, providing excellent customer service.

Two (2) years of experience working across teams in an office setting.

Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (especially Excel).

Special Requirements

The successful candidate must consent to and pass a criminal background check

after a conditional offer of employment.

US Citizen or Permanent Resident who can become a Designated School Official (DSO); training will be provided.

Terms of Employment:

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) classified, overtime-eligible position with Pierce College District. This position is permanent after serving a 6-month probationary period. The primary work location will be at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom campus. Occasional travel to Pierce College campuses or sites may occur. Work hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings, weekend work, and occasional travel as required. This position may be subject to reassignment between campuses or sites. This position is eligible for one day a week of telework.
