Family Engagement Specialist

The Family Engagement Specialist is part of our Adult Education program and is responsible for the intake, assessment, and data entry for all education inquiries and referrals. This will be a full time position at 37.5 hours per week. All candidates applying must be fluent in both English and Spanish.

JOB DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

1. Serve as the first point of contact for participants interested in adult and financial education services.

2. Conduct intake, orientation, and comprehensive needs assessment (including digital literacy skills) of potential participants. Conduct pre- and post- CASAS testing for all students as part of the intake process, identifying required tests for each student and setting the testing schedule.

3. Enter student data into LACES and EmpowOR in a timely and accurate manner.

4. Screen all interested participants for FCS eligibility, and enroll when applicable.

5. Support families in the adult education program by talking with them about their needs and goals and connecting them with resources and services, not only education and employment opportunities, but also wrap-around services for their families.

6. May assist in developing information and outreach materials in English and Spanish.

7. May assist with outreach events as requested by supervisor.

8. Maintain student files including tracking and documenting credits and hours.

9. Participate in events, meetings, and trainings as appropriate for: LACES; Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS); Other development training, as appropriate

10. Participate in agency and team meetings; attend a variety of external meetings.

11. Other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

Education & Experience

Experience working in human services and/or teaching children, or a combination of education/experience providing required job qualifications.

Associates Degree, in Human Services or Early Childhood Education preferred.

Or a combination of education and experience providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work.

License(s) & Certification(s)

Must have valid driver license and auto liability insurance if personal vehicle is used for work-related travel.

Skills & Abilities

Fluency in Spanish essential.

Attention to detail and data entry skills required.

Excellent organizational and planning skills.

Ability to represent the agency positively

Expertise dealing with people, building relationships with staff, co-workers, volunteers, clients and community partners.

Ability to work with limited supervision.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications. Experience with EmpowOR, LACES data bases preferred.

Must have strong and effective communication skills (oral and written).

Working knowledge of standard office procedures and technologies (phone, computer, printer, photocopier, scanner, fax machine) is needed.

Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with people from varied cultural, socioeconomic, educational and experiential backgrounds.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Starting wage between $23.41 - $25.85 per hour (DOE)
