Sportworks is a fast-paced growth company passionate about making the world more accessible and bike friendly and is in search of a like-minded Toolmaker/Machinist!

As a Toolmaker/Machinist, you’ll develop, make, modify, and repair complicated tools that help us build world-class products. These tools may include jigs, fixtures, and all types of combination and progressive dies for punching, piercing, shearing, and forming a variety of metals. Job responsibilities may be modified depending on job requirements and business needs.

In addition, you will:

Exercise extreme accuracy and skill as you work from plans such as drawings, sketches, instructions, and blueprints.

Setup and operate:

Manual and CNC Vertical Milling Machines

Manual and CNC Press Brakes

Manual Metal / Engine Lathes

Manual Surface Grinders

Manual Vertical and Horizontal Bandsaws

Use precision measuring tools and equipment such as:

Dial and Digital Calipers

Inside, Outside, and Depth Micrometers

Height Gauge

Squares, Straight Edges, Etc.

Calculate proper feed rates and chip load speeds for various cutters and material types.

Organize and maintain toolroom material and hardware inventory as necessary to effectively support product development and production operations activities.

Maintain a high level of 5S, making sure that all shop tools and equipment have a place and are in that place.

Perform all required daily, weekly, and annual maintenance on tool room machines.

Maintain a safe shop environment ensuring that guards and warning signs are in place, there are no slipping or tripping hazards, etc.

About You:

Graduate Apprentice with 4 plus years of practical experience; or Toolmaker/Machinist with 2 plus years’ experience in tool making and repair work.

You’ll have worked successfully on complex toolmaking projects.

You’ll have used complex shop math (including trigonometry) and have working knowledge of a tool room, production machines and methods.

3D CAD experience, preferably Autodesk Inventor, is desirable.

Voracious, curious, and active learner. A strong bias for action and a result focused, independent self-starter not afraid to challenge the status quo.

Organized, detail oriented, strong project management skills, yet humble.

Strong communication skills and works extremely well with others providing support.
