About the Role

The Injection Molding Technician is responsible for set up and breaking down of molds and raw materials for molded parts, assurance of the quality of parts being molded, tryouts of new and modified molds, molding machine status reporting and conducting daily maintenance, regrinding of sprues and runners and scrapping of contaminated parts/materials. This position works under moderate supervision. This role provides the opportunity to work within the Network Solutions Business Unit of Leviton Manufacturing Company Inc.

Responsibilities

- Performs in-process inspection of injection molding components which includes visual inspection and/or dimensional measurement for conformance to requirements defined on drawings, Standard Inspection Plans, Visual Factory or other d documents

- Weigh count and stage transacted molded materials for put-away

- Removes scrap and trash from manufacturing areas

- Generates production, move and scrap transactions as needed to ensure inventory accuracy

- Clean aResponsibiltieuxiliary equipment that supports Injection Molding process

- Responsible for set-up/start-up of Injection Molding Equipment

- Monitoring tooling condition and notifying tooling when mold is unable to produce quality parts or when preventative maintenance is required

- Reprocessing sprues and runners into regrind to be blended back into the process per quality system requirements

- Perform daily molding machine maintenance and molding machine repair as required

- Performs insert changes and modification and adjustment of injection molding parameters

- May serve as lead

Qualifications

- Ability to read, understand, and navigate through online assembly process documents

- Ability to perform inventory movement transactions

- Understanding of basic math skills – adding, subtracting and measuring

- Ability to read drawings & blueprints

- Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions both verbally and in written format

- Ability to use judgement to identify potential safety hazards

- Ability to use judgment related to identifying and segregating non-conforming materials and components

- Ability to work effectively in a team oriented environment

- Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility

- Ability to communicate and interact with support personnel from engineering, tool room, and/or quality to resolve production equipment and/or process issues.

- Ability to work independently

- Ability to competently coordinate the work of others

- Ability to successfully train others

Physical Demands

- This position requires 20% clerical and planning and 80% material handling, production assembly machine operations, and/or walking and assisting production employees

- Work is primarily performed on the manufacturing floor where noise levels may be moderate or high and hearing protection may have to be worn

- Eye and foot protection may have to be worn

- Lifting of weights up to 30 pounds may occur regularly, with a potential for lifting weights of up to 45 pounds on an occasional basis.

- There is potential exposure to extreme temperatures

- The occasional physical demands of the position include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and eye/hand/foot coordination

- May stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.

Education & Experience

- High School education or GED required. AA Degree preferred.

- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in plastics injection molding processes

- Previous forklift experience preferred

- Oracle experience preferred

- Proficient in the operation of injection molding machinery and auxiliary equipment

- Certified to operate a forklift
