ABOUT THIS ROLE
Verax Chemical Company (www.veraxproducts.com) is a small, family-run business in Maltby, which is about 20 minutes south of Snohomish. We are looking to hire an efficient and knowledgeable production manager to lead our chemical blending and manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate for this role will have experience in manufacturing settings, including mixing and packaging products following written instructions. They will also have experience preparing pallets for shipment and receiving shipments from carriers. The person in this position should have a strong attention to detail to ensure that they are producing high quality products every time.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
1. Mixing formulations
o Following batch sheet in adding chemicals and components to mixing tank.
o Note small discrepancies on batch sheet. Report large discrepancies immediately.
2. Packaging line lead
o Lead others in operation of packaging line.
3. Train and manage others in equipment operation.
o Monitor operation and address any issues as they arise.
o Ensure quality control parameters are met (fill weight, coding, clean, square labels, etc)
4. Outbound shipments
o Prepare palletized freight for departure and work with drivers on loading.
o Every shipment should have pallet labels, packing lists, and bill of lading.
5. Inbound shipments
o Check-in incoming shipments. Check for damage and note on the bill of lading.
o Deliver paper work to the office and notify of any issues with the shipment.
o Put away received product.
6. Maintain a clean and tidy workspace
7. Property Maintenance
o Currently this position also maintains the property as time permits (mowing, weed eating, etc.) This may be outsourced in the near future.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
1. Retrieve / pour off small quantities of product for customers on short notice.
2. Notify Director of Operations of low inventory levels.
3. Assist team with other tasks as needed.
KNOWLEDGE & REQUIRED SKILLS
1. Independent / self-directing – a good portion of the work is performed independently and without direct supervision.
2. Strong attention to detail – finished product should be clean, dry, have straight labels, etc.
3. Problem solving / logic problems (if this, then that) – need to be able to fix issues that arise with packaging equipment.
4. Able to follow specific written directions.
5. Able to carry 50 lbs up a half flight of stairs and lift to chest height repeatedly.
6. Friendly and works well with others – staff and customers.
PAYMENT & BENEFITS
1. Hourly pay: $25 - $30
2. Benefits: paid time off, health insurance
3. Working hours: 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. daily (Monday - Friday).
