Job Summary:
The Plant Health Care Technician assists the PHC Project Manager with delivering PHC treatments, occasional arboricultural work, while providing the highest performance in safety, quality, efficiency, and customer service when required.
Responsibilities:
Provide exceptional customer service while fulfilling plant health care services
Drives specialized PHC trucks to various work sites
Practice various PHC treatments such as: fertilization, soil amendments, pest and disease control measures
Perform air spading services
Perform deep root injections, watering, and other PHC services
Prepare pesticide sprays and other PHC solutions for treatments
Prepare and maintain impeccable records of pesticide use and monitoring forms, work orders, and equipment maintenance requests
Follows STC, OSHA, WSDA, and ANSI safety standards, and wears necessary PPE
Immediately reports any incidents to the Plant Healthcare Manager
Ensure projects sites are left cleaner than when we arrived and moved items are returned to their original locations
Report all equipment / truck / tool mishaps to the Plant Healthcare Manager
Participates in weekly safety meetings
Perform administrative duties as needed such as scheduling, invoicing, and client communications
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Current or will obtain shortly after hire: Commercial Pesticide Applicator License
Familiarity with Plant I.D. and treatment options
Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Turfgrass, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Outdoor Recreation, Agriculture or a related field OR prior experience working in landscaping or horticulture is preferred but not required
High School Diploma
Requirements and Skills:
Valid WA Driver’s License
Current CPR certification
Ability to pass background check
The ability to lift, push, and pull 75+ pounds
The ability to respond quickly to sounds
The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
The ability to work in varying environmental conditions
The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day
The ability to reach overhead
The ability to grasp objects for prolonged periods of time
The ability to hear verbal commands
The ability to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and heavy machinery
The ability to stand for extended periods of time
Possesses strong problem solving abilities
