The Assistant Director-Lead Distiller of the SPSCC Craft Brewing and Distilling Program reports to the Dean of Applied Technology and assists with the coordination, planning, and support of the program in its goal to offer high-quality and comprehensive education and training in craft brewing, cider making, and distilling. The program provides educational enrichment opportunities for students through exposure to, and involvement in, an array of diverse experiences, including commercial equipment training, spirit flavor and recipe development and production, internships, site visits, workshops, conferences, community collaborations, and guest speaker events.

The Assistant Director-Lead Distiller should be familiar with, or able to become familiar within three months, relevant federal and state regulations, college policy, and available funding options related to craft beverage recipe development and production.

This position requires a flexible work schedule, including availability for evenings and weekends. Many activities are performed independently and with minimal supervision. The Assistant Director-Lead Distiller will work in close concert with the Assistant Director-Lead Brewer, the Director of Business (for Percival Creek), and the Lab Manager-Lead Chemist (for Tumwater Falls Laboratory). The Assistant Director-Lead Distiller may be assigned additional tasks by the Dean of Applied Technology in matters where procedures and policies are not well known or established.
