We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to drive operating system kernel development for new EC2 compute platforms. In this role, the Engineer will work with a broad and deep group of technical teams that develop hardware, firmware, systems and application software.The ideal candidate is expected to have in-depth knowledge of the use, design, development, and debugging of Linux kernel and expertise in a large-scale C codebase. Additional experience with Rust is preferred.Experience with Linux package management, version control systems, automated build processes, software unit testing, bug tracking, and design documentation are required.Key job responsibilities
Research, design, implement changes to our Linux kernel to meet business requirements
Debug complex, system-level, multi-component issues across multiple layers from kernel to application
Profile system performance activity and drive optimizations across our software stack
Deliver production-quality code and support its operation in the production environment

3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language

3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market.
