A private Montessori Teacher (This is Not a nanny position) is needed in the Bellevue, Washington area to provide the education of three girls ages 9, 8, and 6 years old. All girls have been schooled in a Montessori classroom environment at home since birth and are above average academically. They all love to stay active with classroom activities or help with activities like cooking and cleaning up when needed.

The ideal candidate for this position will either have Montessori Credentials and/or have 4+ years experience working as a Montessori Teacher. The right candidate will be passionate about educating young children and excited to turn everyday activities into engaging learning opportunities. The right candidate can also creatively build custom-tailored activities to implement Montessori-style learning.

The teacher is expected to be a calming presence in the schoolroom and can patiently help children using the Montessori Conflict Resolution process using solutions, not blame, whenever necessary to resolve simple disagreements by using their teacher role to model positive behavior which the children will follow.

Additional duties include keeping the classroom organized as well as overseeing and providing assistance to the children for keeping the classroom organized during teaching hours. The primary role of the teacher is to care for the children’s education and the environment they learn. The Teacher is expected to use Montessori materials in the classroom like Math Beads, etc. to help continue the educational development of each child.

The position is part-time 2 to 3 days a week which falls between Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. There is flexibility with start and end times. Pay is set at $45 an hour.

Responsibilities:

Observing, guiding, supervising, and assessing children while they learn in the classroom environment.

Creating independent learning exercises and methods that cater to the needs of the individual child.

Creating and maintaining a safe, clean, stimulating classroom where all children feel safe and valued.

Setting an excellent example for the children students of good values like honesty, accountability, understanding, respect, love, and kindness.

Monitoring and assessing student progress and writing up simple progress reports on each child

Ensuring classroom supplies and equipment are available and in working condition.

Advising parents on how to utilize a monthly budget for purchasing additional classroom materials

Oversee and provide assistance if needed for children preparing their meals throughout the day

Must adhere to hand washing and other sanitary measures set in place while interacting with children

Must adhere to Not using any digital technology while interacting with children throughout the day

Qualifications:

Montessori Teacher Certification and/or 4+ continuous years of Montessori Classroom Experience

Have a clear understanding of modeling positive behavior which the children will follow

A true passion for working with and educating young children

Understand and implement Montessori Conflict Resolution

Proactive, creative, patient and confident
