As a people leader, the Manager Cargo Ground Operations leads and establishes priorities for the team to increase warehouse efficiencies, analyze areas of opportunity, remove obstacles, and drive results through data that ensures quality, compliance and successful flow of cargo while maintaining a safe, accurate and reliable operation.Key Duties
Lead a team to establish priorities to execute on strategy to improve areas of opportunity to increase efficiencies, remove obstacles, and identify non-value add processes and costs.
Ensure all items relating to cargo regulatory compliance are satisfactory.
Responsible for monitoring and reporting the budget for warehouse operations through key performance indicators (KPI’s) to cultivate high performance culture and drive results.
Tracks and reports out on freighter schedule reliability performance to ensure an on-time operation.
Make decisions related to warehouse operational priorities to manage the successful flow of cargo through the warehouse.
Possesses a data driven mindset to develop and manage projects from conception through implementation.
Establish project priorities, identify risks, and influence successful plan execution across the team and all levels of the organization.
Shape culture of team through action, presence and reinforcement of behaviors that incorporates human factor considerations in process, system proposals and solutions.
Contribute to the long-term strategy and planning by research to recommend corrective actions relating to cargo operations regulatory compliance.
Identify root causes of operational errors, determines the severity of issue, and establish guidelines to prevent reoccurrence.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & SkillsRequired
5 years of experience in operations, with proven skills in passenger service, station operations, including cargo handling, ground operations, personnel administration, scheduling shift work, administering bargaining unit employee, and budget controls.
2 years of leadership experience.
Bachelor of Arts or Science, with a focus in logistics, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
Strong knowledge of Alaska Airlines System Regulations, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) policies and procedures, and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations.
Knowledge of quality control and system measurement techniques.
Ability to resolve complex, multi-variable problems.
Strong communication (e.g., verbal, written, presentation) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to create collaborative relationships that drive outcomes in the best interest of the company, with others in the organization, and with key external business partners.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
Ability to create process documentation.
Knowledge of cargo operations, systems, cargoSPOT and Image.
