WRPS, the tank farm operating contractor at the Hanford Site, is the largest environmental cleanup organization in the world with numerous dynamic engineering teams coordinated between nuclear operations and other critical projects in hopes to serve the WRPS mission. The mission is to safely store, retrieve, and treat 54 million gallons of legacy radioactive and hazardous waste dating back to the Manhattan Project and Cold War.The Chemical Engineer will support the Mission Analysis Engineering organization and perform technical and programmatic activities in the evaluation and support of tank farm elements that impact the effectiveness of the waste feed delivery program and overall mission execution. Includes engineering support and evaluation of baseline scope work as well as evaluation of new technical and programmatic options that potentially improve the effectiveness of and decrease risk to the overall mission.Primarily, this position will support Operations Research (OR) modeling activities, which includes:

Preparation of technical documents

Development and coding of Operations Research models

Data analysis and data management

Presentation of OR modeling results

Simulation modeling

Perform technical evaluations and studies to improve the effectiveness of the Tank Farm processes.

Perform work individually or in multi-discipline cross-functional teams; coordinating with multiple internal and external organizations including Production Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Tank Farm Projects, Mission Integration, ORP, DNFSB, Washington State Department of Ecology, and other external regulators and stakeholders.

Demonstrate creative ability through the ingenuity exercised in solving technical problems or preparation and presentation of technical papers, articles, talks or patent disclosures.
