The Windows + Devices Design and Research Team is looking for a Senior UX Researcher to be part of a team creating experiences that empower more than 1 billion Windows customers around the world. Act as a product-making research partner and advocating for the people and businesses Windows can support in meeting their goals.

Partner with cross-disciplinary product teams to ensure customer voice is represented across the product cycle.

Develop and gain alignment on your research agenda to solve user needs while meeting business goals.

Design and execute studies that address user behavior and attitudes, using the right methodology for the right questions.

Generate insights that shape how product teams think about medium and long-term product strategy.

Support and drive development of experience metrics with researchers on our team and across the company.

Bachelor's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field AND 4+ years User Experience Research experience

OR Master's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field AND 3+ years User Experience Research experience

OR Doctorate in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field AND 1+ year(s) User Experience Research experience

OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of experience in applied user experience research, design research, product research or the equivalent product research in industry.

Theoretical and practical knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including a demonstrated understanding of the strengths, tradeoffs and application of different methods (e.g., interviewing, ethnography, surveys, co-design, concept-testing, etc.) across the product cycle.

Skill in observing and understanding human behavior and insights – fundamentally translating ideas, needs, and requests into researchable questions in a rigorous and valid way.

Commitment to creating inclusive experiences and working in a manner that demonstrates respect for diversity and equality.

Knowledge in distilling research into actionable narratives through creative and compelling frameworks and using engaging storytelling with cross-functional partners to drive impact.

Experience with scoping, planning, and executing research including:

Identifying opportunities for product development based on user needs

Working across multiple research projects simultaneously

Project management, organization, and planning skills with attention to detail

Establishing and building cross-discipline relationships to maximize impact.

Experience using one or more of the following relevant research tools, such as Usertesting.com, Dscout, UserZoom, Qualtrics, R, SPSS, or similar.

UX Research IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
