DescriptionProject Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.We are searching for a talented candidate with experience in mission design, spaceflight trajectory modeling and simulation, orbit mechanics, and launch vehicle mission planning. In this role, a successful candidate will be a GNC Subject Matter Expert in trajectory analysis, orbit design and mission design for Project Kuiper.This position requires experience in using and constructing astrodynamics models for simulation and analysis of spaceflight trajectories. Strong analysis skills are required to develop engineering studies of complex large-scale dynamical systems.Key job responsibilitiesWorking with the Kuiper engineering team, you will:

Develop modeling techniques for analysis and simulation of deployment dynamics of multiple satellites

Support Project Kuiper’s US Government portfolio with Mission Design

Support Project Kuiper’s Launch Vehicle Mission Management team with technical expertise in Launch Vehicle trajectory requirements specification

Develop tools to support Mission Management planning for over 80 launches!

Work collaboratively with launch vehicle vendor technical teams

Use and develop COTS and in-house orbit and trajectory tools to support advanced mission concepts for Project Kuiper

Export Control Requirement:Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:Redmond, WA, USABasic Qualifications

PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of quantitative field research experience

Experience in modeling and simulation of satellite orbits

Experience with astrodynamics tool development, either custom developed or commercially developed off the shelf systems (STK, GMAT, FreeFlyer)

Basic understanding of GNC topics and related analysis

Preferred Qualifications

Masters Degree in Aerospace Engineering

Experience in flight dynamics engineering roles such as orbit analysis, mission design, modeling & simulation, maneuver planning, orbit determination, and satellite operations

Excellent communication skills

The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market.
