Job Title: Van Conversion Tech

Reports to: Custom Director

Location: Port Townsend, Washington

Job Summary

Camp N Car seeks a Van Conversion Tech to participate in the creation of world-class camper conversions in a wide variety of vehicles. From full Sprinter builds to cozy car campers, the Van Conversion Tech will lend their diverse skills to ensure these homes on wheels are built to a high degree of quality with hands-on involvement from start to finish.

This role centers around carpentry although it will frequently delve into other roles such as systems installations, exterior modifications, inventory management, and more. A diverse set of skills is required for building vans and this role is no exception!

Key Responsibilities

- Work with the Custom Shop team on projects ranging from full van conversions to car camper builds, RV renovations, and beyond.

- Fabricate a wide variety of wood furniture and components for van interiors such as cabinetry, bed platforms, storage solutions, trim pieces, paneling, and more.

- Oversee the purchasing of parts and hardware for van conversions and keeping the shop stocked with essential fasteners, lumber, and more.

- Assist in the installation of 12V power systems in vans, run wire, affix solar panels, and occasionally work on basic plumbing and propane infrastructure as well.

- Help keep the conversion shop well stocked and clean and lend assistance in some administrative tasks such as parts and hardware purchasing.

- Accurately track and report time and materials expenses for each project.

- Demonstrate the ability to efficiently learn how to carry out new tasks and installations for vans that you may not have direct experience with.

- Provide input to improve project designs and workflow processes continuously.

Requirements

The ideal Van Conversion Tech should have a strong background in professional finish carpentry or cabinetry and be capable of handling diverse fabrication tasks. Experience with 12V electrical and off-grid systems is preferred. Attention to detail and efficiency in producing high-quality finished products are essential.

Schedule

- 4-day work weeks with the potential to increase to 5-day work weeks if desired

- Work days start at 9:00 AM and end at 5:00 PM with unpaid lunch and one paid break

- Opportunities for a flexible schedule as needed with advance notice
