Description:The NGS scientist supports feasibility, development, design, laboratory systems integration, and validation/verification testing of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)-based molecular assays (Illumina TSO 500) within specific turnaround time.Key Responsibilities: Prior managerial experience in setting up and validation of NGS assays and LIMS. Operate complex laboratory equipment such as high throughput liquid handlers and Illumina sequencers (NovaSeq6000). Support the timely processing and reporting of oncology samples to internal and external collaborators. Create and follow SOPs. Analyze and troubleshoot NGS test results. Maintain detailed notes of experimental data with proper documentation. Prepare reports and presentations to communicate results in group meetings. Validate tissue and blood based NGS assays. Independently perform lab testing. Support FDA, NYS DOH, CAP, and other regulatory agency inspections. Provide support and contribute to QC and QA activities as needed. Train and mentor other team members on standard operating procedures. Participate in training sessions and workshops. Prepare and isolate nucleic acid from oncology specimens (such as DNA/RNA extraction from FFPE tissues and blood samples). Perform standard molecular biology techniques (such as enzymatic manipulation of DNA and RNA). Ability to work with MD, Molecular Pathologist. Other duties as assigned.Additional Skills & Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in the molecular diagnostics and/or high throughput clinical laboratory.

Experience working with typical oncology specimens including Formalin-fixed, Paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue samples and blood in clinical and/or high-volume molecular diagnostics setting.

Demonstrate good understanding of the practices and principals of clinical NGS (tissue and blood), including DNA-seq and RNA-seq protocols, and various target-enrichment approaches e.g. multiplex-PCR

Experience working in CAP/CLIA regulatory environment, WA state requirements, HIPAA and importance of privacy of patient data.About Actalent Actalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
