Job Summary:
The 2nd shift Supervisor / Press Operator is responsible for carrying out the efficient day to day 2nd shift responsibilities by effectively supervising mechanical and employee resources to ensure that all press room production and quality standards are met.
Essential Functions:
Mechanical Aptitude: (30%)
Operating seed presses and ensuring that all presses are running at optimal settings to meet or exceed scheduled deadlines and expected yield standards.
Effective and efficient operation of Oberlin filter presses including optimal settings for changes in seed lots. Setting optimal cycle times and inspecting for part wear that could cause failures or slowdowns. Cleaning, including the break down and reassembly of the Oberlin filter presses to a standard that meets or exceeds GMP standards.
Forklift operation, including sit down forklifts, stand up forklifts and electric pallet jacks – Forklift certification through Flora.
When time permits help with the setup of production lines for 1st shift.
Processing: (40%)
Monitor seed being sent to the presses for correct silo and lot number
Maintaining presses on an as needed basis to limit failures and slowdowns
Cleaning presses, barrels, totes, tanks, clamps, pumps, floors, press room washroom drains, etc. including the breaking down of and reassembly of pumps and presses in a manner that meets or exceeds GMP standards.
Monitoring oil storage towers for clear oil and mechanical failures. Process CIP cleaning procedures of all oil towers.
Press incoming vendor supplied seed samples in a timely and efficient manner to help expedite the release of incoming seed lots.
Clear and correct record keeping to GMP standards of all oil lots in process, cleaned and sanitized equipment, raw materials used or in use, etc.
Preparation and processing of oil samples to QC.
Efficient and timely production of various oil mixes to be bottled on 1st shift.

Communication: (30%)
Clear communication to 1st and 2nd shift of ongoing processes including high priority actions that may need to be carried over and completed during the next shift.
Understand and comply with SOPs for your work area.
Training and assessment of skills of 3rd shift operators.
Conduct regular end of shift meetings with the production manager to discuss process improvements, needs, and ongoing issues.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Food/dietary supplement manufacturing experience preferred
Experience with quality control and performance goals
Experience working in a fast-paced working environment
Dependable with a good attendance record
Work Environment:
May require working occasional overtime-flexibility of schedule as needed with short notice. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Ability to work in a refrigerated environment
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, reach overhead, bend, and stoop throughout the workday. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 50 pounds.
