Whatcom Community College invites applications for a Program Specialist 2 (Class Code 107I) position in the College's Outreach department. This position supports the College by working directly with diverse groups of prospective students to establish and advance relationships that lead to college enrollment. The Program Specialist serves as a college representative at college fairs, local school districts, community spaces/events, and public activities. This position reports to the Director for Outreach.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

-Promote Whatcom Community College to the Whatcom County community and K-12 systems.

-Develop professional relationships with high school counselors and staff at community organizations that refer students to Whatcom Community College.

-Hire, train, and supervise the Outreach department's student employees.

-Manage inventory and purchasing of promotional items, including ordering, sorting and storing.

-Manage the [email protected] e-mail inbox by reviewing messages and providing timely responses or assigning to others as needed.

-Travel throughout the region to represent Whatcom Community College at outreach events.

-Assist incoming students with submitting their WCC application, providing support in person, via phone, via online meeting, or other format as needed.

-Respond to inquiries in a timely manner by phone, mail, email, and virtual & in-person services while following FERPA regulations and maintaining the privacy and accuracy of student records.

-Utilize the College's customer relationship management platform to track and connect with students who submit requests for information.

-Coordinate and conduct campus tours for prospective students.

-Coordinate room reservations, agendas, and itineraries for campus outreach events in collaboration with outreach staff.

-Collaborate with other WCC Departments to support recruitment of students.

-Participate in campus committees as appropriate.

-Other duties of a similar nature and skill set as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

-Demonstrated experience planning or coordinating events.

-Ability to perform job duties during weeknights and weekends.

Or

-A combination of education and experience that provides the candidate with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the responsibilities of the position will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Outreach/recruitment experience in Higher Education, government, for-profit, or community settings.

-Fluency in Spanish.

-Experience with Microsoft Office, Teams, and Zoom.

Salary:

-This is a full-time, classified, WFSE (Washington Federation of State Employees) represented position. Salary is Range 42, starting at Step C, $3,811.00 per month with periodic increments to $4,740.00 per month.

Benefits Package:

-The position comes with a full benefit package, including health, dental, life, long-term disability insurance and a retirement plan.

-Accrues 8 hours per month of sick leave and 11.33 hours per month vacation leave with periodic vacation accrual increases based on longevity.

-11 paid holidays annually.

-1 personal holiday annually after 4 months of continuous employment.

-2 personal leave days annually after 4 months of continuous employment.

-Whatcom Community College is a qualified employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program (PSLF). If you work for the College full time, have had Direct Loans and are on an eligible repayment plan, you are eligible to apply.

-Full-time employees are eligible to apply and participate in the Whatcom Community College Employee Tuition Program, which provides a tuition waiver for available and eligible WCC courses.

-Full-time employees may qualify for Washington State Paid Family Medical Leave (PFML) benefit.
