Description We are offering a role within the Professional Services industry located in Reston, Virginia. The role focuses on the job function of a Staff Accountant and will be based in a typical office environment. This job provides a contract employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Conduct general accounting tasks and other related duties within the accounting department. Prepare monthly financial statements such as Statement of Financial Position, and Statement of Activities. Maintain all transactions in the general ledger. Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and manage the monthly books closure. Carry out bank account reconciliation on a monthly basis, verify deposits, and handle inquiries from banks. Reconcile customer accounts and manage accounts receivable collections. Verify Accounts Payable transactions, weekly check run, and ensure invoices are linked to the appropriate expense accounts. Work closely with external auditors to provide the necessary information for the annual audit. File required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies. Coordinate with software vendor for maintaining accounting software system and recommend updates to enhance the accounting software. Utilize software such as Microsoft Dynamics SL, Bamboo HR, MS Office in performing job duties. Handle tasks related to payroll.Skills required: Accounts Payable (AP) Accounts Receivable (AR) Bank Reconciliations General Ledger Journal Entries Month End Close MS Dynamics SL Bamboo MS Office Payroll Requirements Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes Experience with Bank Reconciliations Understanding of General Ledger management Ability to prepare and maintain Journal Entries Experience with Month End Close procedures Proficiency in using MS Dynamics SL and Bamboo software Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel Experience in Payroll processing and management Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Professional certification (e.g., CPA) is a plus Familiarity with accounting standards and regulations Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work.
