Description We are looking for a diligent and meticulous Staff Accountant to join our professional services team located in Reston, Virginia. This role involves a variety of accounting tasks, including maintaining general ledger transactions, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial statements. You will also be required to work closely with external auditors and manage accounts receivable collections. Responsibilities: Perform general accounting tasks and other duties within the accounting department Prepare monthly financial statements including Statement of Financial Position, and Statement of Activities Maintain all general ledger transactions and perform regular reconciliations Code invoices, set up new accounts, and close the monthly books Reconcile bank accounts at least monthly, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks Manage accounts receivable collections and verify A/P transactions Coordinate with external auditors to provide necessary information for the annual audit File required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies Maintain accounting software systems and recommend updates to enhance system efficiency Use software such as Microsoft Dynamics SL, Bamboo HR, MS Office for various tasks. Requirements Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management Demonstrable experience with Bank Reconciliations Familiarity with General Ledger upkeep and Journal Entries management Ability to handle Month End Close processes Experience with MS Dynamics SL and Bamboo software Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel Experience in managing Payroll Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Knowledge of accounting principles and regulations Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Professional certification such as CPA is a plus.
