Position AnnouncementWorking under the supervision of the Director of Payroll, this position works in tandem with another Payroll Specialist in processing payroll for all full-time, part-time and adjunct employees. This position also facilitates employer benefit payments, reconciles accounts, and answers payroll-related inquiries by telephone, email, and in-person. Process payroll for all full-time, part-time and adjunct university employees, including manual check preparation, garnishment calculation and compliance.

Execute time and attendance processing and interface with the Banner system.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required by external agencies, administration and campus departments.

Reconcile payroll-clearing accounts.

Apply University policies and procedures, FLSA regulations, other wage/hour laws, and federal/state taxation requirements.

Provide assistance to university employees regarding payroll inquiries.

Submit employer benefit payments and employee elective deductions to their respective outside vendors.

Data entry for recording finance system transactions and data retention needs.

Manage record retention according to best practices and state mandates.

Assist with supervision of Payroll Assistant (work-study student), including assigning and managing tasks, training, etc.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred. Business-related college coursework preferred.

Minimum of two years' office/bookkeeping experience required; accounting and payroll experience preferred.

Demonstrated understanding of Microsoft Office products with Access and Excel applications preferred.

Ability to work well with other staff, faculty, and students and contribute to a team atmosphere.

Capable of communicating clearly with co-workers, students, and outside professionals both orally and in writing.

Experience in an educational environment preferred.

Knowledge of Banner System preferred.

Supplemental InformationPOSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Full-time non-exempt staff (overtime-eligible) position. Annual salary of$46,000-$48,000depending on qualifications and experience. Desired start date ofAugust 2024.
